[baptism and washed away]

“If your original wounding is not healed, every man you meet has to deal with the brokenness of your own father, and every woman you meet faces your mother’s unresolved issues - which you inherited - not to speak of your own store of personal memories and hurts.” - Rohr, 26, “Adam’s Return”
Everyone I meet
I treat
As a shadow
Boxing with my past
It will outlast
Me
If i do not
At last
Turn and face
The place
Where a wound needs
To be healed
Sealed
Finally
After letting out
All the grief
Let it seep
And run
Steep
In the pain
Until it transforms
This weary heart
From wounded to healed
Be revealed
As new
Freed
Unburdened
Decried:
Anew.
From old family and inherited vice
Now spliced
Into the larger tree
Set free
Let it be
All
In the past.
I can outlast
My grief and wounds
Be made new
Let wash away
Clear these bones and sinew
Let my heart feel renewed
Healing is long past due
Be through
With old tales
Go forth
And unveil
A heart free
To sing
Swim
In rich vulnerability
Tranquility
More agility
To look
And act
From compassion
And grace
Now so much more space
To embrace
All our flaws
The tragic and heavy
The so-broken many
We are here
We’ve arrived
Let life thrive
In this new [wine] skin
This weary, broken soul
Made whole
In the washing away
Burdens release
Finally
Wholly
Wholeheartedly
Made
At peace.
